Due to the continued growth of our company, we would like to present an exciting opportunity to join Honest Employment Law Practice (HELP) as a Health and Safety Consultant. Within this role you will join our expanding, dynamic, fast-paced and friendly health and safety consultancy team.

HELP is a hands-on HR and Health & Safety consultancy business with almost 20 years’ experience supporting SMEs to ensure compliance and improve workplaces.

As a Health and Safety Consultant, you will have the option to work from home or operate from our Head Office in Cannock, West Midlands, managing your own diary. A typical week will be around 2 or 3 days with clients, and the remaining days at home or in our office to continue your varied client work. You will need to be flexible around travel and be willing to stay overnight occasionally.

Key responsibilities for the Health and Safety Consultant role will include:

• Visiting clients and undertaking full health and safety audits and inspections
• Producing health and safety gap analysis reports, identifying areas where improvements are required and advising the client on improvement options moving forward
• Reviewing the production of policies, risk assessments and method statements
• Supporting the client with other safety related systems and processes, such as incident investigation, RIDDOR advice, COSHH documentation and management, workplace transport and asbestos management
• Acting as the key point of contact (competent person) for the client on any health and safety related matters
• Answering any health and safety related queries

If you would like to join an established company with a growing team, please apply for the Health and Safety Consultant role if you have the following qualifications and attributes:

• Proven experience in a similar health and safety role (ideally supporting SMEs) covering a number of sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, transport and retail
• NVQ Level 5 or 6 / NEBOSH Diploma / NCRQ Diploma or equivalent and Grad IOSH status
• Excellent communications skills with proven experience of engaging a wide range of stakeholders
• Ability to work on your own initiative and manage your own diary/workload
• IT proficient and competent working with a range of software systems
• Attention to detail and ability to produce consistent and high-quality reports and documents
• Full UK driving licence

Other skills and experience which are desirable, but not essential, are:

• Chartered practitioner status – CMIOSH
• Competency in another discipline:

  1. Fire Safety
  2. Asbestos Management
  3. Acoustics and Noise
  4. Training competency such as PTLLS.


The Health and Safety Consultant role comes with a fantastic package which includes:

• Salary: £33,000 – £38,000 dependent on experience and qualifications
• Car/car allowance/pence per mile
• Mobile phone and laptop
• Private healthcare (after 12 months’ service)
